Our Roots
The history of Rafiki began in 2012 when Esthetician Kimberly Forrest experimented with creams and lotions for her children. Her son suffered severely from eczema and her daughter from cystic acne and after visiting several dermatologists without success, she decided to create her own cream to address their skincare issues. The company had some small success at road shows in the beginning and later opened a storefront on Ft. Stewart Army Base serving military personnel and their families.
The name Rafiki comes from Swahili which means ‘friend’. “A Friend for the Skin You’re In”, has become the company’s motto as customers have built personal relationships with the owner while sharing their secretly guarded skincare issues. Before and during COVID-19, Rafiki experienced clients who wanted an herbal remedy to help with their symptoms, the wellness department was added to Rafiki Beauty. Rafiki Beauty and Wellness now manufactures over 30 products to address skincare, haircare, and wellness needs. The company is growing with every new product manufactured and every new friend they encounter.
Meet Kimberly
Hello, friend.
My name is Kimberly Forrest, and I am the owner of Rafiki Beauty and Wellness Products. I am a licensed Esthetician in the state of Florida and a doctor of Phytotherapy (herbalism).
I am the spouse of a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer. We have been married for 35 years and we share four wonderful children. I started Rafiki Beauty and Wellness to take care of my family’s skincare needs as I had a son who suffered severely from eczema and a daughter with cystic acne.
Creating natural skincare products became a refuge for me because the products I created helped my family and friends with their skincare needs. It also helped fill a void of abandonment when my spouse would deploy for six months at a time. Developing products that helped others with their skincare issue gave me a sense of accomplishment and I continue to enjoy helping my family and friends find solutions to their everyday beauty and wellness needs.
